EMILIA ROMAGNA

EMILIA ROMAGNA

This rich agricultural region is the home of Parmigiano cheese, Prosciutto di Parma, Lambrusco and the Italian sports car industry. Largely flat and well watered, a wide range of grapes are grown in the more hilly regions to the south west on the edge of the Apennines, producing light and zesty whites and reds. The Sangiovese is the key red grape making soft fruity wines with a clean fresh style, ideal for serving with the local pork dishes such as
Zampone. Long regarded as a source of everyday drinking wines, producers in the region are increasingly
experimenting with new styles and grapes.
